I was going to do another iOS app review — but my flatmate is currently playing a game about a chicken on my iPad, and I can’t take the required screen-shots etc. It’s a hard life, eh?
Instead, I am going to share with you my epiphany about crochet.
I’ve been able to knit for ages — in my time, I’ve given crochet a fair go. Wonder-Mum even tried to teach me by example a few times; on one of the most memorable she produced the pictured (and slightly dubiously circular) specimen one evening sitting in the Africa Hut*. It’s something that I just think I will never be able to understand.
However, I have, in the past, experimented with giving knitted pieces a crocheted border — I understand knitting stitches so much better that I have found this relatively straightforward. The main deterrent was the way in which I used to hold my yarn — in my left hand with the index
finger poking straight out, and dropping it ever two seconds.
Yesterday, I was having lunch with JSand his friend, and I started crocheting the edging on a present. About a minute in, I suddenly realised that it was really, really easy…looking down at my hands, I realised that in my distraction I had wrapped the yarn around my right hand as if I were knitting. No problemo.

I was so thrilled that I interrupted the (very techy) conversation to show off my new technique. The boys were unimpressed, and I continued on happily.
That’s all for now.
Much love,
Corrie xx
* The Africa Hut is a shed at the bottom of our garden which Wonder-Mum and I decorated in December 09, draping it with African fabrics and putting a lot of our African artifacts in it. One of the best places to chill out on a sunny day.
