Wow, it’s been a week since I blogged. I can’t believe it! I’ve been finding work so incredibly tiring, and everything except gentle activity has been way beyond me. Sorry! On to the kitties.
I’m going to introduce a new character to Plutonium Muffins…! Tinkerbell is a friend I met at a folk festival a few years ago. She was one of JS‘ friends who I probably scared half to death with my nervous exuberance and loud ways…luckily she forgave me for it and we have been firm friends for a good long time now.
It was her birthday this weekend, and we watched two Tinkerbell movies…hence the name. We also gave her a box full of goodies, including three stackable kitties.
Stackable Cats
The pattern is by Anna Hrachovec, the genius behind Mochimochi Land. Tinkerbell loves cats, and I had originally asked JSand one of our other friends if we could get her actual live kittens. They squashed that idea (probably highly sensibly) and I had to make another plan.
The cats came out pretty well. There were a few techniques that I had to improve upon, including provisional cast-on, picking-up stitches along a side-seam and also, most embarrassingly, just stuffing a toy with enough polyfill to make it a toy, but not too much to make it look grotesque.
We decided to call them James, Harvey and Bryan.
The celebration for the Big Day was pretty cool. I went to Tobington‘s house and we made a cake and wrapped ALL the presents, which took a very long time. At Tinkerbelll’s house we ate takeaway, watched plenty of Disney films (not just Tinkerbell – Hercules and Robin Hood too!) and munched on the cake. JS‘ stellar cutting skills are exhibited.
She liked the kitties, and they were placed on her bed immediately. I am pleased! One of my (secret) ambitions this year was to knit her something and I have delivered. I love it when that happens!
Anyway I’m going to go and do more stuff that is worthy of blogging about so that I don’t have to leave it another week…
Much love,
Corrie xx
