Crikey, it has been a long time since I posted anything at all – much less anything about my July Resolutions projects! Things have been going crazy – I had a birthday, JS and I are moving house and I am trying to find flats desperately, JS went to New York, Piccadilly left us (cry) and I’ve been dealing with some health stuff. Ack!
Anyway, I have been getting a fair amount of knitting and spinning done, so here we go…!
Zigzag Jumper
This jumper has been fairly flying off the needles! It is almost certainly one of the best patterns I have ever knitted. The zigzag pattern is created by a lot of slipped stitches and it makes it feel like you get through each row super quickly.
I also feel like my colour choices were inspired. Isn’t this awesome? I can’t wait to wear it! It’s getting a bit big to carry around with me now, so I have slowed down a bit, but that’s OK.
Icon Dress
I cast on the size that was recommended, then had a huge battle with the hem. This is a picot hem, and knitted to boot. I had never done a knitted hem before, let alone a picot one – I spent literal hours trying to do it. With many Twitter conversations, pleas for help and even a YouTube video, I eventually managed to sort it out with the help of Purl Alpaca, the designers. Thank you so much to them!
I then got one pattern repeat done and stopped. I had cast on the large and was more and more unconvinced with each stitch – I am meant to be losing weight (ha) and I was really unsure about the size. After a bit more umming and ahhing, I frogged the whole thing and started again.
I’m now well beyond the point at which I ripped out and really liking the pattern. It is complex enough to keep my interest, and easy enough that I can sit in front of the TV and watch things. (Have you seen Parks and Recreation? It’s the BEST.)
This is definitely a long-term project.
Spinning
I’ve done fairly well on my roving, and am about a quarter through the first set of singles. I’m going to give it a good go this afternoon, as I have been in need of a bit of mindless time the last few days. Looking forward to it!
I’m also working on another couple of projects, but they aren’t on my list for July. The first is a set of leg-warmers which are my current portable project. The second is a cover for my new laptop! (JS bought me a laptop for my birthday! Isn’t he awesome??!)
Anyway that’s it from me for today! I have to take Molly to the vet this afternoon, and am hoping they will give her desperately needed surgery.
Much love,
Corrie xx
Glad your back! Great projects!
Thanks :) I thought getting a new computer would help me blog more but I have so many new apps to play with that I am actually worse than normal!
