I’ve just discovered a new knitting blog series – Work in Progress Wednesday. I’ve been talking about my WIPs for a while now, and also looking for another regular feature (I’m talking, of course, about the Friday Inspirations – this week’s is a beauty, I’m excited about it), and one of my Twitter followers alerted me to this one. I like it, so I’m going to give it a go for a few weeks. A list of some of the people who do it can be found here.

Of course, most of my creations are presents, so they are top secret until I can unveil them – so my WIPs might have to be fairly abstract in terms of pictures and descriptions. I’m hoping this will add to the fun a bit!

This week, however, I can talk about the thing I’m working on right now because, although it is a present, it was my Secret Santa gift this year, and the person knows that it is a scarf that I started knitting for him in December. I’m currently doing some embroidery on it, to give it that personal touch, with a number of phrases which link to it.

I can’t remember exactly what pattern it is — I think I knitted the scarf in 2×1 ribbing with a fringe of white yarn, embellished with bits of gold embroidery thread to give it some extra sparkle. The scarf was knitted extra long to make sure he would wear it!

I’ve been going for a while, it’s a good in-between-times project, but is slow work. I have a lot of phrases to embroider on it!
