Some new projects

I decided to depart from some of my old projects this weekend, and start on some new ones to keep me motivated. As much as I love the gadget case….I’m a bit sick of working on it! So, I cast on two new projects, scarves with a bit of a difference. They were nice and easy, so I didn’t have to think too hard.

This was necessary – we had 6 friends staying over the weekend, including the delightful TJB, and any knitting was carried out with much gossip, giggles and consumption of tasty, tasty drinks.

Weekend Projects – Rococo Scarf

Why did I decide to make this one of my new projects? I had a lady come in to Hobbycraft on Friday and spend ages telling me about the virtues of Rococo Scarves. I’d been meaning to knit a Rico Cancan scarf…but, to be honest, the Rico is £10 a ball, the Rococo just under £8. My choice was purely economical.

JS was playing in the National Theatre on Friday night with his band, Suntrap, and I sat on the most unusual and comfortable seats I’ve ever seen in the cafe! It was in-cre-di-ble. Honestly, I think I will be going back there sometime soon – no internet or phone signal, so absolutely no distractions, and plenty of inspiring things around and about. There was one gigantic old dress that looked like something Queen Victoria would wear – I wish I’d got a photo of it, I can’t find one on the web.

Anyway, I finished the scarf in the car on Saturday morning, on the way home. It is interesting…I’m not sure something that I would ordinarily wear. But, it was a very quick and pleasing knit, and very unusual – definitely a talking point! I called it Experimental on Ravelry!

Weekend Projects – Skinny Liz’s Scarf

I decided that Skinny Liz, who hails from South Africa, would be getting cold in this beautiful British weather, and needed some warm clothes. Having been so invested in the mistake rib stitch for my Gadget Case, I decided I needed to do more knitting in that pattern! Can I just say that I am a pro at this stitch now…

Anyway, this is where Skinny Liz‘s scarf is at right now.

I suspect I won’t get it finished before the week starts again, as I’ve got the last bit of coding to do on the Gadget Case! I’ve got one more round of test knitting to get through and I will be ready to publish. Are you excited? I am..!

How was your weekend? Get anything finished?

Much love,
